What’s going on at the MBEC?
This has truly been a great year in Philadelphia. At the MBEC, we have been working diligently to help facilitate minority business participation on many of the great projects that have been initiated here in the City. We recently took part in the 18 th Annual Minority Enterprise Development Week (MED WEEK 2003). This year’s theme was "Making Our Mark Through Entrepreneurship" and there were a series of events held between September 28, 2003 and October 3, 2003. On October 2, 2003, we held a workshop and reception entitled “Doing Business with the City of Philadelphia” that focused on business opportunities through the City itself, the Philadelphia School District, and the Philadelphia Housing and Development Corporation’s (PHDC) Basic Systems Repair Project. We really enjoyed seeing everyone who attended and we hope that we will benefit from the same participation next year. For those of you who are not certified through the MBEC, let me give you a few reasons why you may want to become a qualified MBE, DBE, WBE or DS-DBE.
